Things have been incredibly busy here at Jenny’s Cat House recently. We’ve had a consistent flow of pregnant mama cats or mamas who have given birth outside, which have resulted in sad endings for some of the kittens.

On top of this we also have a number of older cats, cats who are FIV+ and kittens, all who need rehoming.

And in all honesty, it’s been exhausting.

Due to this, we’ve decided that it may be time to scale back Jenny’s Cat House to ensure we can offer the best care and support for cats in need, whilst avoiding burnout for Jenny and our volunteers.

We 100% want to continue with what we do for the cat community around Hull and East Yorkshire, and as a small charity we can’t continue at our current rate. We also need to ensure that our vet bills are paid, so that we can continue to provide the cats and kittens with the medical help they might need.

In light of this there will be changes ahead. We’re not completely sure how this will look at the moment but we will keep you updated with our decisions.

It may be that we drastically reduce and limit the number of cats and kittens we bring into the rescue, or we may request more volunteers to foster cats and kittens.

We know that the work is done by selfless people who volunteer their time, energy and homes. And we absolutely couldn’t do the work we do without the wonderful generosity of everyone who donates money, food, litter and equipment.

Thank you to everyone who has already and continues to donate to our ever increasing vet bill. We are absolutely in awe that you give to us, it truly inspires us to keep helping the hundreds of cats that come through our doors, however running a charity isn’t easy, and we need to ensure that everything is in order, and that means we will need some time to review and make changes where necessary.
