Foster Policy
Jenny’s Cat House Foster Policy
Please read this policy thoroughly before filling out the foster form.
As a volunteer foster carer for JENNY’S CAT HOUSE, I agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. The foster carer shall cater to each cats’ individual needs as much as possible.
2. The foster carer shall maintain a high level of cleanliness and not use any chemicals and/or cleaning agents that are not safe for animals/cats (Dettol in particular, is highly poisonous to cats).
3. The foster carer shall not allow the cat(s) to come into contact with house plants that are known to be unsafe for animals.
4. Everyone in the foster carers home knows about and agrees to have the cat(s) in their home.
5. If the foster cat(s) is in need of veterinary attention, shows signs of illness or is lost or injured the foster carer agrees to IMMEDIATELY contact Jenny’s Cat House (JCH) on 07824 387774 regardless of time of day.
a. The foster carer will follow any instructions given to them by JCH or the cat(s) veterinary surgeon.
b. Kittens are very susceptible to minor illness. Diarrhoea can become very serious in kittens and minor upper respiratory viruses can become pneumonia very quickly. If a kitten is not eating well or shows any signs of weakness, contact JCH ASAP.
6. The foster carer will keep the foster cat(s) isolated from any other pets or animals for the duration of their stay in the foster carers home.
7. The foster carer will provide updates on how the cat(s) is doing when contacted by JCH and agrees that JCH can visit the cat(s) in their foster home at a mutually convenient time as required by JCH.
8. JCH will not be responsible for any damages that may occur as a result of fostering cat(s) (e.g soiled or scratched furniture or carpets).
9. Food and litter will be provided by JCH. The foster carer will not be compensated for any additional expenses not authorised by JCH.
10. JCH will not be responsible for any additional fees or payments that may be required by apartment complexes or other housing. It is the foster carers responsibility to ensure that the cat(s) are legally allowed to be kept at the address specified on this form.
11. The foster cat(s) will be kept indoors AT ALL TIMES when not being transported, and will be transported in a safe, secure and sturdy carrier that will ensure the cat(s) safety. The foster carer must take care not to allow the foster cat(s) to escape or go outside the specified address at any point.
12. Any children should be closely supervised when socialising with the cat(s). If this agreement indicates the cat(s) is not suitable for children, then children should not be introduced to the cat at any point without prior consultation with JCH.
13. The foster carer agrees not to foster for any other rescue or charity whilst fostering for JCH.
14. The foster cat(s) can not be transferred or temporarily transferred to another party or location without approval from JCH. This includes pet sitters, outside family members AND boarding catteries.
15. The foster cat is to be adopted to its permanent home ONLY under the approval of JCH and standard adoption policies will apply. The foster carer may refer potential forever homes to JCH.
16. If the foster carer is interested in adopting the foster cat(s) the standard adoption procedure will apply. This will include completing an adoption application as well as paying the standard adoption fee.
17. The foster carer agrees and understands that each cat(s) will have its own personality, challenges and temperament and JCH will not be held responsible for any injury that occurs as a result of fostering the cat(s) specified.
I understand the terms of this contract and agree that it is in the best interest of the cat(s). I will abide by the conditions stipulated. Should I be found to be negligent or noncompliant with the terms of this agreement, I understand that JCH can demand the return of any fostered cat(s) and terminate the fostering agreement immediately.
